My interest in photography started when I was eight. I was living in Hatboro, Pennsylvania then. I had a project due. The subject was Philadelphia and all of my classmates were gathering postcards; cutting and pasting them into projects. My father told me I couldn't report on something without seeing it and we needed to go into the city and take our own pictures. So off we went. It was a wonderful moment for me to see I could capture a special moment and record a piece of life with my camera. 
So ultimately, it was my Dad who inspired me and got me started. I still have the camera that I used that day; an antique now. This is a photo of my Dad. What I love about this shot of him is the way it captures his personality: calm, patient, and the gentle kindness always in his eyes. I love to take pictures of kids the most, but I do photograph kids of all ages, young, old, even four legged ones. My father got me started and my family has been my inspiration since, with my grandson, Tommy, being my favorite model, and my husband my biggest supporter. One of my hobbies is scouting out antique stores. It is there that I find some of my most interesting props. I look for things that may add a sense of nostalgia to my pictures. One of the added advantages to my props is that they keep the kids still (for at least a few seconds)! The carriage in this picture is one of my antique store finds.  It's never a formula, and in fact with kids it never can be.
Sometimes whatever is handy just turns into an amazing prop.
I was photographing my niece and decided to throw my winter coat around her.
